Project for the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome


Evan is a young publishing house dedicated to publishing ancient, modern and contemporary literature. It needs a modern, recognizable visual identity that stands out from the competition. Caters to a very broad target audience, from 18 to 60 years old.

The key words are modernity, freshness, innovation. The logo concept fell on the parrot, a long-lived, dynamic and curious animal. Longevity fully represents the broad target audience, and its plumage indicates the wide variety of literature published by the publisher.


The parrot’s head and beak are rounded to give more softness, less stiffness, and a more minimal and modern appearance. The choice of colors fell on red: it stands out immediately to the eye and echoes the parrot’s plumage.

For the font, on the other hand, Noto Sans serif was chosen: neutral and modern.

900 is the name of the publishing series, and as the symbol and consequently the pictogram, an airplane was chosen. It represents a “mechanical bird,” so it is consistent with the line of the publishing house. Moreover, it is one of the most important inventions of the 20th century. The style, always minimal, also remains consistent with EVAN’s identity.
